To the Parents and Players of Brother Rice Hockey:
Thank you for attending the meeting tonight. The coaching staff felt that it was important for you to listen to the same meeting that was held with the players in June at the beginning of our summer off ice program. I hope that it was informative for you as well. One important reminder: every Monday at 5pm, aspects of the game plan will be discussed during a half hour chalk talk. Your player is expected to be in attendance with a pen and spiral notebook.
Other information that is equally as important. Included in your tryout fee of $80 due at registration on August 6th are the following: four conditioning sessions on the following dates in August: 18th, 20th, 25th, and 27th at 5:00pm at Oak Lawn Ice Arena and tryouts will be conducted during the week of August 31st and September 3rd at Oak Lawn Ice Arena. Times will be posted on the Team calendar found at:

Game limits have been imposed on all High School Hockey programs this season by AHAI. Brother Rice Hockey Varsity and JV levels will be competing in the Catholic League and the Metro Invitational Tournament league in the fall. Using last season as a template, both teams should play between 40 and 45 games including tournaments and playoffs. By reducing the number of games and increasing the number of practices, our program will fall more in line with the philosophy of USA Hockey. (See AHAI Game Limits included in this letter).
Included in this letter is the contract that must be signed by the legal guardian and player and returned to Coach Bessett on registration night 8/6/09 along with either one check for $3,300 or seven separate checks, each in the amount of $471.42 post-dated 9/1/09; 10/1/09; 11/1/09; 12/1/09; 1/1/10; 2/1/10; and 3/1/10. Emails will be sent 1 week before due dates as a reminder of deposit. In the case of a player either deciding not to play or being cut from the program, all seven checks will be returned with your student on September 10th in exchange for the jerseys and pant shells. The tryout fee and check for the apparel will not be refunded.
Finally, there will be opportunities for you the parent to get involved with the team. Committees will formed throughout the season in order to facilitate functions such as: tournaments, Senior Night, and the season ending banquet in March. Parental input and support for these special activities are always appreciated and certainly needed.
Again I want to welcome you to the 2009-2010 Hockey Season.
Respectfully,
George Bessett
